A free one-on-one chat

This whole site is a retired Chartered Accountant — 40 years in practice — sharing everything for free. For a handful of trickier situations, you can also request a free one-on-one chat.

The answer is probably already here

Everything that's normally a $5,000–$10,000 engagement — the tips, the per-occupation expense lists, the calculators and the video walkthroughs — is on this site for free. The vast majority of people are fully covered by it.

So before requesting a chat, please work through the relevant tabs and your occupation worksheet. If your situation is still genuinely unusual and you fit one of the cases below, send a request and be patient — this is one retired accountant volunteering, not a call centre.

Who a chat is for

Situations worth a conversation

Free chats are by appointment for people in these circumstances:

Heavy-vehicle & hard-yakka

Truckies, tradies, miners and equipment operators with big vehicle and travel claims.

Carers

Aged, disability and childcare workers who drive and buy for the people they care for.

Big-overtime earners

Anyone on an award working well over 38 hours a week with overtime meal allowances.

Car-at-work users

Workers who use their own car during the day — banking, post, client and site visits.

Rental property owners

Especially if you've never claimed building or renovation depreciation, or bank costs.

Business owners

Particularly sole traders — moving to a company structure can save 60–75% on the tax bill.

Tithers & regular donors

AOG, LDS, SDA and others who can get a receipt or signed letter for their giving.

A note from the accountant: “I'm 60 and volunteering, so please read everything here first — and if you still send a request, be patient. I can't speak with everyone, but this site will fully help the vast majority of Aussies.”
